Shiatsu Massage is a form of Eastern bodywork that honors the mind-body-spirit connection by treating the person as a whole. Shiatsu restores and maintains a person's energy flow by applying pressure to the 'meridians', the energetic pathways throughout a person's body. Through stretching these meridians and increasing breath awareness, acupressure points are accessed using hands, thumbs, knees and elbows. Shiatsu has its roots in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine; it stimulates and balances the energy or 'Qi', bringing mind, body and spirit back to a more harmonious state.
Shiatsu is performed on a floor mat or massage table. Loose, comfortable clothing is worn during the treatment. Before receiving a session, a health-based assessment is conducted.
